The completed Project will be 8.9 miles.

The total length of new Project proposed with TIGER Grant funding is: 4.2 Miles.

How long will each new section be?

Segment 1(Stop and Shop to Neponset Valley Pkwy) will be 0.5 miles. There will be an additional 0.45 miles of on-street improvements (Fairmount to Dana Avenue).
Segment 2 (Central Ave to Mattapan Square) will be 1.5 miles.
Segment 3 (Columbia Point to Malibu Beach (.66 miles), Dorchester Bay (.77 Miles) and Schaeffer Paper Mill (.32miles)) will be 1.75 miles.

How many improved street crossings will there be?

There will be 8 improved street crossings.

Along the 4.2 miles of new bikeway, how much of that bikeway will be off road?

Most all of the 4.2 miles will be off road.

How much additional bikeway network will this open up to Neponset River Corridor users?

The completed Project will provide access points to over 178 miles of additional bikeway networks, including the Emerald Necklace, the Blue Hills and the Boston Harbor Walk.

How much will the Project cost to complete?

The project will cost $16.8 Million to complete.

How many users currently utilize the bikeway?

The bikeway currently hosts some 10,400 riders, walkers, and runners each day.

How many people will be able to use the bikeway once it's complete?

The completed Project is expected to see usage more than double the current amount. Of the more than 24,000 trips that would be made on it daily, some 7,100 would be by bicycle, including 2,800 on just the TIGER funded segments.
